Making Progress

Epona now has a few round pen sessions under her belt and is progressing beautifully! She readily turns in to me when changing directions and halts when asked! I spend about 10 minutes with her in the round pen every other day. After the round pen session, I spend about 5 minutes doing some "sacking out." She is quite smart and tries so hard to figure out what I am asking. After the sacking out, we worked on picking up feet without making a fuss. She also got wormed today. I didn't even need a halter to do it either! Complete opposite with Woobie, he was a complete drama queen about it! Tomorrow I plan to do some arena work on Varro and a good grooming session with Epona.

A Stalemate

It has been a week since my last post... The weather has been so crazy. Windy, Windy WINDY! I have not been able to do any horse playing.

Epona continues to surprise me with her loving attitude. She whinnies at me every time I walk by whether or not it's feeding time. I frequently cuddle up with her at nap time and let her lay her head in my lap. Our only set back was her farrier appointment. She was a complete and utter Holy Terror! She beat up my farrier and stepped on my foot! She was not afraid or spooky... she simply did not want to stand there AT ALL! (MARES!) Once the weather settles and I am able to do some training with her, we will be working on manners! I think some turnout time with the "big" horses is in order LOL

In other non-horse related news, I have started my vegetable seeds for my garden this year. I will be planting: butternut squash, cantaloupe, watermelon. peas, cucumber and tomato. Here's to hoping I have more to blog about this coming week!
