Training Trail Ride

I went for a great trail ride this evening with a couple friends of mine. It was a great ride. I used it for "schooling" Varro; we worked mainly on transitioning between a free walk and a collected walk. He really wanted to break into a trot. He finally got it and then I started adding in a few trot transitions too. The last part of the ride there was a "Horse eating Goat" in one of the yards we tried to pass. Of course none of the horses wanted to go first by that monster. Since we had already had a wonderful positive ride, we decided to double back and "Baja" home. All in all it was a great ride. I think tomorrow will be some arena work.

Pepperglen Schooling Show

Today I had a great lesson with my trainer Liz. She really does get the best out of me AND Varro! I am setting a goal to show at Pepperglen Sept 29th! I am bumping my lessons up to every week to prepare. Today we did a lot of good trot work. We are working on Varro's quality and rhythm. We worked on my position as well as my cues that I give. I am so lucky to have such a great trainer!

Eros is so full of cuteness! He whinnies at everyone who walks up and practically begs for attention! I am looking forward having a horse that loves EVERYONE! As much as I like having a "Mama's Boy" (aka Varro) I will enjoy watching other people ride him :-)

I am looking into starting new supplements: Platinum Performance. I LOVE SmartPak and love the supplements I use but am looking for something more for Eros. He is growing so fast that I am worried about his joints/bone development. He is going to be such a great mover when he grows up but for now he is a gangly kid LOL More pictures later this week!
